House on the HillThe Chicago Area Premiere RunSaturday, October 11th, 7:30pm - midnightRegistration now open!
Excerpt from Brian's House on the Hill site:Welcome to the "House on the Hill", a four-hour freeform (or theatre-style, live action) roleplaying game for 34 players. It's set at the House on the Hill, a hotel situated just outside the small, fictional village of New Dunnottar, somewhere on the New England coast. What marks the game out is that it is two games running in parallel. Both games take place in the hotel, but one is set in the present day (2008) and the other 80 years ago in 1928. You can play in either run of the game, although you should note that for those playing in the 1920s run, I do expect a reasonable level of authenticity with the costuming (there are some hints and tips on 1920s costuming on the site). In essence, both games are the same. A disparate group of characters are gathered together for the evening in the hotel. Each has his or her own agenda and set of goals and naturally some (if not all!) of them conflict, thus leading to tension and hopefully some good roleplaying. The added twist is that the 2008 run of the game will be affected by the 1928 run of the game since the characters in the 2008 run will be aware of what happened in the past. Don't worry about how the mechanics of that works out - leave it to the referees! Obviously, I can't tell you too much about the actual characters in each run or what they will be doing without giving too much away. However, since one of the main sources of inspiration behind the game is the film Reservoir Dogs, you can be sure that some of the characters will be criminals, while others will be the staff of the hotel or other guests. Note, however, that everyone has a good reason for being there and each has their own goals to achieve. Staff of the hotel, by the way, will not be expected to wait on other characters, but the manager, for example, would be expected to be present at the start of the game to greet guests as they arrive. Operational note:Because the casting form and game information for House on the Hill are hosted on Brian's site, we are doing something slightly unusual for registration this time. We are using this page as a conduit to his main game site. We will take your basic contact information here and then once you have submitted this form the following page will take you to his site where you can follow the links to his casting form. We apologize in advance that there are one or two pieces of information you will have to enter twice, once here and then again on his actual casting form. If you are just browsing, that's fine; you can use this direct link until you are ready to register. Click on the House image lower down on the page to get to his House on the Hill pages. But when you are ready, please return here and fill out this form first. And then don't forget to register separately for AJ's game on the All's Well site. NOTE THAT YOU MUST FILL OUT BOTH THIS FORM AND BRIAN'S CASTING FORM TO PLAY THE GAME!! The cost of this game is $25, or just $40 if you play both this game and All's Well That Ends earlier in the day. Fees will be collected on site. Please do not forget to also bring some money for dinner if you will be around during the dinner break. Unfortunately, House is a bit bigger than All's Well so not everyone will get to play both games. Sad but true. Details on arrival times and such will be provided when games are assigned. We're sure this will all be confusing to some folks, so please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions. Thanks!
