The Special Guest Star(s)
During The New Scooby Doo Movies era, part of the episode
format included having Special Guest Star(s) who met up with the gang and helped or hindered
them while they solved the mystery. The guest stars included:
Living celebrities who provided their own voices: Don Knotts,
Jonathan Winters, Phyllis Diller, Sandy Duncan, Sonny and Cher, Davy Jones (of
the Monkees), Jerry Reed, Tim Conway, Don Adams (Get Smart),
"Mama" Cass
Elliot and Dick Van Dyke.
Dead or retired celebrities voiced by imitators: the Three
Stooges, Laurel and Hardy.
Present or future Hanna-Barbera characters: Batman and Robin,
the Addams Family, the Harlem Globetrotters, the cast of Jeannie,
Josie and the Pussycats, the cast of Speed Buggy.
We're not going to dictate the Special Guest Star(s) for any
runs, although we do reserve veto power. Here are the guidelines:
-
From 1 to 3 guest stars are allowed per run; to have more than
one, they must be related. I.e., you can't bring all five of the Harlem
Globetrotters (although two or three of them is okay) and you can't have
Laurel and Hardy with Sandy Duncan.
-
Special Guest Star(s) can't have magical/super powers or be
too heroic to run away repeatedly from the monsters. In viewing the movies,
we noticed that the episodes with these types of characters were drastically
different from the typical Scooby episode. For instance, the Batman and Robin episodes have them
chasing the Joker and the Penguin (while the gang tags along or are captured
by the bad guys)--Batman and Robin don't run away from ghosts. Our Game
Needs Guest Stars Who Will Run Away. Unfortunately, we're not going to be able to
allow, even though canonical, Batman and Robin, the cast of Jeannie
or certain characters from the Addams Family (Lurch, for instance). Sorry.
-
Musical characters will be viewed more favorably if the
player(s) are willing to perform. Lip-syncing is of course preferred.
Acceptable guest star(s) are NOT limited to just those which
actually appeared on the New Scooby Doo Movies. Any bumbling detective,
cartoon or otherwise, would probably be great. Think of celebrities or
characters who should have been or would have been guests, if Scooby Doo had
been running at their time or on their network (or their agents were desperate
for exposure/cash). Some other ideas for potential Guest Stars:

Any Scooby relative listed on Scooby's Wikipedia
page is fair game, except for Scrappy Doo. [Scrappy Doo is an
abomination who should never have been created--don't worry, he will not be
appearing or allowed in this game.]
You get the idea...
[Just to be clear, in case you had any
doubts--Nyarlathotep is right out.]
