The Curse of Whately's Mesa

We're sorry, but Whately died with his boots on in the fall of 2003. Please visit the Fête Fatale home page to see if there are any other fun games coming up that you can actually play.

Please take a few minutes and fill out the questionnaire below, so we can choose the most appropriate character for you.  Please note that you aren't registered until we have your questionnaire.  Cost for the game will be between $10-20* which covers all game expenses plus $10 for dinner, payable at the door.  While we will be making every attempt to assure a safe environment during the game, we cannot promise that that no-one will accidentally bump into you or that something won't get knocked over onto you.  Please be aware that you will be moving through a dark "haunted house" type environment with handheld oil lanterns, and can hurt yourself or others with sufficient stupidity or bad luck.  All players will be required to sign an insurance waiver before playing.

Please take into consideration that during this game most characters will be spending a fair amount of time going through the passages of a simulated mine.  It is unlikely that you will at any point actually get rained on.  However, some areas of the game space may be affected by the outside weather--it is distinctly possible that sufficiently foul weather will result in passages being somewhat damp or even muddy.  Some areas will be at outside temperature.  Please costume with these warnings in mind.  Unless you have requested a character who DOESN'T crawl, make sure that you wear something you won't mind crawling in and getting possibly damp or muddy.  Gloves and knee pads are a good precaution.  Layers of shirts, jackets, etc., are recommended, so you can adjust what you're wearing to suit the temperature and your activity level.

* Note: The run scheduled for October 17th will be a playtest run. This is a form of dress rehearsal. The first run with real people helps us fine-tune the game (the phrase "guinea pigs" comes to mind). Cost for the playtest run will be $10 less than the other runs.

If you would like to ask us something before you register, please feel free to email us at Murder1@FeteFatale.com.

Thanks for your interest!

We encourage you to coordinate your preferred play date with your friends before you register, so that we can spend our time on devising devious devices instead of verifying groups' schedules ("Dick wants to play on Friday with Jane, but Jane wants to play on Saturday with Spot, while Spot's got a dog show that weekend and wants to play with Dick and Jane the following weekend.").

The game is currently scheduled to run on the following dates. Please indicate your first choice.  If you register for a Full run, we will put your name on the waiting list for that night.  Additional runs in November will be announced 10/16.

Are you interested in being part of the cast (i.e., playing a bit part that the characters run into) for any runs? If so, which of the play dates are you available?

This game takes place in an abandoned mine, so there are a number of tunnels in the game space.  No tunnels will be smaller than two feet wide by two feet high, and  no single spot will be smaller than 60" in circumference.  There are some characters who will need to do a LOT of crawling; there are some characters who will crawl some but will have a choice as to how much they do so; there are two characters who will NOT crawl through passages. Please note that the non-crawling characters will be spending much of their time doing research, deciphering messages and decoding puzzles.
