About Dealer Room After Dark

Scenario

Different Convention, Same Old Stuff.

You know what fandom is like: Lit fen* hate the media fen; SF fen hate the Fantasy fen; Star Wars fen take cheap shots at the Trekkies; and everyone ignors the Goths. Well, it's no different for the toys of all the convention goers. In particular the toys of the various dealers have quite a rivalry going on. Once more the toys are in a heated debate over who should win the much coveted "Dealer of the Year" award; each one believing his owner to be the best.

Every night when the doors are locked the toys take over the dealer room. Tonight all heck is breaking lose. A storm is causing the power to come on and off. Several questions face the toys this evening.

  1. Who stole the Trophy?
  2. What is that strange noise?
  3. Why is Igor so upset?
  4. Who let the Buffalo in?

Want to find out the answers to these and other exciting questions? Come play "Dealer Room After Dark"

Game Elements

Live-action roleplaying games, or LARPs, come in many shapes and sizes.  For this particular game you can expect:

  • A Fuzzy (also known as "stuffies") game.  In the likely event that you've never heard either term, that's probably not much help.  This is a larp written where all the characters are toys (usually stuffed), using the live-action rules that Jim & Kelly have written for Fuzzy Heroes, a miniatures rules book.  The toy is available to use during the game as a prop--players tend to use them as puppets while playing.  This would be a great introductory larp for kids: they just need to be old enough to read their own character sheet. But Jim & Kelly have run stuffies games at several conventions (science fiction as well as larp) and adults enjoy them too!
  • The sorts of characters who would be toys sold at a sci-fi convention.  There are roles for 6 Science Fiction Toys, 6 Fantasy toys, and 6 Miscellaneous. toys. At least two of the characters are pre-generated but (for the very first time) Jim & Kelly will allow players to bring their own toys for the other characters. If you do not have a toy, please indicate this while registering, and one will be provided for you. There is no hard and fast rule as to what is a Sci-Fi toy or a Fantasy toy. However something obvious, such as an Alien or Space Man, would be Sci-Fi, and Unicorns and Dragons would be Fantasy. However such toys can also be considered miscellaneous toys. (Teddy Bears can go anywhere.)  When in doubt just ask. Casting is on a " first come first served" basis.
  • Lots of silly fun.  As you would expect!  You aren't going to find angstful romantic triangles or amoral business dealings: you're playing a bunch of toys!
